Paul Pham

How Technology Affects Non-Profit's Social Impact

Paul Pham (he/him)

Paul is the Engineering Manager at The Trevor Project, which is the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention services for LGBTQ+ youth. He has a background in technical consulting serving as the tech lead and project manager for various industries, including banking, finances, telecommunications, automotive, energy, and non-profits.

As we witness the relentless advancement of digital tools, it is imperative for non-profits to harness the full potential of technology to magnify their positive influence on society.

Amanda Daering

How to Recruit (for Non-Recruiters)

Amanda Daering (she/her)

Amanda is a speaker, business strategist, and entrepreneur. She loves nothing more than when smart people come together to solve important problems. For over fifteen years, she has built teams for some of the world’s most stellar companies including KKR, Seven Seven Six and more. She sees the future of work as something to be created rather than feared. She has brought that mindset to features in Inc, Forbes and Parade. When not nerding out about the future of work, you’ll find her either reading or taking too many photos of her mini-Schnauzer named Ruth.

Here’s what she has to say about her talk:

This session is for people who participate in hiring but have a whole different day job outside of recruiting! Recruiting doesn’t have to be complicated and intimidating. It should be fair and organized. This session will show you how to attract top talent while creating a set of guidelines so that the whole process is streamlined and inclusive. You’ll walk away from this session knowing:

  • The most important question to answer before you hire (Hint: it’s not part of a traditional job description but it should be!)

  • How to attract the right people to your job

  • How to run an A+ interview process

  • What to do next!”

Brandon Hawker

Compassionate Code Review

Brandon Hawker (he/him)

Brandon is a software engineering leader and builder, and a self-described jack-of-all-trades, deliberately leaving off the "master of none" part (though it's absolutely true). He is currently an engineering lead and manager at Fetch in Madison, WI. In his spare time he enjoys playing and watching soccer, and wilderness backpacking.

Here’s what he has to say about his talk:

Code reviews are a fundamental day-to-day necessity to building great software, but can be challenging from an inclusion standpoint due to differing communication styles, cultures, and power dynamics. A compassionate, inclusive, and effective code review culture can be challenging to create and maintain. This talk discusses tactics to achieve this.”
